Freeze dried Durian
At the beginning of this year, a relative brought me something call freeze dried durian from Thailand. It taste so good that it was all gone before I realize that I should take a picture to blog about it. Well, I just got a second chance.
Now before I continue, I have to say how did the Thais ever came out with this idea. They have durians, we have durians. Why didn't we ever thought of this?
This is how the packaging looks like. I suppose there are many different brands because the one that I got earlier this year is not this brand. However, the taste is just as good!
Individual packings. Two packs in all.
From the picture above, you can tell that it is not soft or soggy. It is not chewy either like how a dehydrated fruit typically is. It doesn't melt in your mouth. Its kinda puffy. The taste and aroma is superb if you are a durian lover but a nightmare for those who can't take durian.
So if you are ever in Thailand, remember to grab a bunch of it.

I think d main reason no such product can b found in MY is due to Durian is abundant here. Furthermore Malaysian enjoy d freshness of freshly peeled durian. That's why u c ppl sittin at roadside njoyin their durian.
Anyway this product is good 4 export market & think there must b some local company that have done that.
i remember buying these for friends who are durian lovers and they said that despite the taste & smell being similar, they will go for the real thing anytime coz of the texture & freshness... i wonder if like other freeze dried food, once you add water, it'll change?
btw, i find it funny that the chinese wordings for the freeze dried durian that you bought is "liu de hwa" which sounds like andy lau. lol.
read the package carefully, you will find that they put the name 'lao dak hua' in cantonese[Andy Lao], where the 'lao' is take from cantonese word for durian 'lao lien', just feel it's funny when i first saw it :p
Jasmine & MF: Hahaha... I didn't realized that, since I am a banana, can't read chinese...
