Pump It Up

Pump It Up or PIU is a rhythm video game similar to Dance Dance Revolution. I am not sure what's the popularity of this kind of game currently but I am certain that the peak has past. Anyway its still jaw dropping to see people who are really good with this kind of game. Here is a video of a guy that is really that good.

Skin shedding

If you didn't noticed, the old theme is gone. I've been using the old theme since I started this blog and had always wanted to change it. I was too lazy to design a new theme and didn't like those templates available on the net. That is until I found this. Its heavily modified and doesn't really look like what its supposed to be when I found it.

What do you think?

Movie Review

This is a list of all the movies that I have reviewed so far. It will be updated whenever I review a movie. Note that some of the review are actually hosted on a different blog.

  1. My Girl and I
  2. Crying Out Love, In the Center of the World
  3. The Art of Seduction
  4. Shinobi: Heart Under Blade
  5. Azumi 2 : Death or Love
  6. A Moment to Remember
If you've noticed, all the movies reviewed are either Japanese or Korean movies. There is no need for me to review the mainstream stuff since many people will be doing it.

My Girl and I

Warning: There may be spoilers.

After watching Crying Out Love, In The Center Of the World, I watched the remake, My Girl and I (note: this site seems to only work with IE, that sucks). The movie starred Cha Tae Hyeon (My Sassy Girl) and Song Hye Kyo (Full House), which is also her big screen debut.

I don't know how faithful this remake is to the novel, but it seems to be a very loose remake of the original. I feel that the original is more complete. A number of things are missing or changed. Instead of exchanging cassette tape, its exchanging voice mail. The protagonist now has a grandfather selling coffins, instead of hanging out at a photo studio. The heroine seems to only find out she has leukemia half way through the story instead of knowing it before hand.

Somehow I don't really like this remake. I recommend watching the original; however, if you are a fan of Cha Tae Hyeon and Song Hye Kyo, then don't miss it.

Hitomi wo Tojite(Close my eyes)

In my previous post, I mentioned about a very nice song by Ken Hirai. Well, that song is Hitomi wo Tojite.

Here is a video of that song with clips from the movie itself.

Update: youtube has removed the video.

Crying Out Love, In The Center Of the World

I was going to watch My Girl and I, but read that it was actually a remake of a Japanese film, Crying Out Love, In The Center Of the World. So I decided to watch the original first. According to wikipedia, this movie is actually based on a novel. There are also manga and tv drama adaptations.

Anyway, this movie is one of the top films in Japan in 2004, and I didn't realize that a very nice song by Ken Hirai is actually the theme song for it. Basically, the movie is about the relationship between two teenagers, Sakutaro "Saku" Matsumoto and Aki Hirose, which is unfold through the memories of an adult Sakutaro. It is a typical romance tragedy type of story but presented beautifully. There is a part where they exchange cassette tapes to communicate their feelings is pretty sweet.

The movie running time is about 2 hours 18 minutes long. A bit long, but all the loose ends are properly taken cared of before the movie ends. A very nice movie, worth watching!

Smart Apple

This proves it, that Steve Jobs is way smarter than Bill Gates. Last year, I blogged about switching away from Windows because Bill and co had just made the biggest mistake by investing billions to create a hub for R&D, product and application development in the world of the X-Mens.

Apparently, Apple made the same dumb mistake as Bill and co but they've realized the truth and quickly pulled out in just two months. Apple probably wasted a lot of money but its better to waste it then continue throwing money into the sea. Bill and co doesn't seems to have been enlightened yet. Oh well, Bill still have lots of money to throw away.
